05/22
Today was my last day with Kara Cooper for my internship. I met her at her studio around 11am. We drove to the shoot together. The location was around 50th and Hawthorn for a headshot session. The session started at 11:30am. I helped Kara for a few hours while she got her shots in, assisting with lens changing and carrying her equipment until about 1pm then we wrapped it up. When we got back to her studio we went over her contract files and her editing process as a refresher. I learned a lot from Kara when it comes to being a self employed photographer in Portland and how to get great opportunities for traveling for work as well.

04/02
Today Kara and I wrapped up things with another small shoot she did downtown, then we headed downtown to pick up her frames from previous her art show I attended a few weeks ago. We went to Club Privata to get her frames, we wrapped each of them up before putting them into her car and we took them back to her studio. When we got back she went over how she can afford to travel and how she gets models in LA while she is in Portland. I have one more visit with her next week

We also went over last weeks family shoot I assisted her with and she showed me the package they paid for and how she edits those down as well. I also was around for her to book a shoot with a client. I left around 6:30pm

We went over client emails and contracts for different clients and where she keeps everything stored in her computer and backed up. As well as coffee meets/ sales. She just got back from LA a few days ago so we were going over her edits and the photographs she chose to publish. On Friday I plan on assisting her for a photo shoot in Mt Tabor around 1PM

Art show
Last night, Thursday the 2nd of March I assisted Kara Cooper at her art show.
Her Intimate Portraits show was from 6PM-8PM located at Club Privita. We both arrived around 5:45 to get ready for the show. The places was full of people, food and great energy. Kara's art was up on multiple walls for everyone to admire throughout the night. I passed around links to Karas Indiegogo site to help her get the word out about her goal for her new book and emails were collected through the night as well. On Monday I will be assisting Kara with book editing.

Second week
02/28/17
On Sunday (02/26) Kara Cooper had me assist her for a family shoot around 10:30 in the morning until about 12:30 after that we went back to her studio and I helped her finish up with the 20 frames that I helped her with last Saturday for her intimate portraits art show this Thursday (March 2nd) so they could hang properly by wire. Once we got all the frames ready to go for the show we put them in her car to take them to downtown Portland, Club Privata on SW 1st Ave. When we got there we took the images into the building and placed them on the table next to where they are going to be hung for the show. Then we were given a tour of the place to wrap up the day.
I plan on attending her art show from 5:30pm-8pm this Thursday.

First week
02/18/2017
Today I met Kara Cooper at her studio/house to start my internship with her. We introduced ourselves and Kara first told me about herself and her project she has been working on for two years now, she told me what it was about, how she knew all the models in her project and how she got the project started. Kara then showed me her project on her computer to get me comfortable with what she is working on. After looking at her images on the computer, she then had a stack of prints and she needed me to help put them all into frames for her expedition later this month. Once they were all in frames we put them aside for next weekend and Kara showed me how she uses Lightroom and how she edits, saves and organizes all her pictures.
With Kara's current project she is making it into a book, so she also showed me the book styles she was thinking about using, the difference in prices, textures and print for each book and on her computer she showed me the layout she is working on for the book of how she wants to show her images. It was really helpful to get into all it takes to make your images into a book.
I will be going back to Kara's studio this Saturday (02/25) at 3pm as well as Sunday (02/26) at 10am
